CYLINDER TURN
CYLINDER TURN
JOB DONE MAN!!
I am disassembling my honda CR 125 engine to give it a better low end torque. One of the best modifications that can be made is to lower the cylinder height by 0.50 mm
let’s take it out from the engine basement, in just 60 seconds!!!
The machining itself is nothing difficult , the main problem is to fix on the lathe the cylinder because it tends to move and loose the parallelism. I spent probably one hour to mount the workpiece (changing the 4jaws usual chuck with the old smaller 3 jaws chuck).
Once that the workpiece is mounted parallel and trued, the turning is made with a low speed and a carbide insert.
Of course the DRO is a good aid to prevent errors. I have been able to get a precise 83,33 mm cylinder height!!
A little amount of handfile and sandpaper actions were required to get smooth edges on the cylinder ports.
sorry If I have not posted so any photos but I was so concentrated to make NO MISTAKES on the engine.
This is one of the serious TASKS I have made ever!!!!!!
