BANDSAW EXTERNAL SAFE SWITCH

BANDSAW EXTERNAL SAFE SWITCH
(NOVEMBER 2006)
JOB DONE MAN!!
The little band saw is a good machine but there is no emergency stop buttoN (safe switch).
I already thought to install a SAFE Sw. since the first day I used the band saw, but I never had time to focus on this project until I was waiting for the lathe saddle to be dry during a painting task...
To install the switch, I mounted a small plastic box on the right saw leg.
The plastic box is not the main hub for the whole band saw wiring.
I have drilled 4 holes on the side of the box.
the 4 holes are for:
1) mainline 240v input (the cable that comes from the wall socket)
2) input/output to the SAFE Sw. box (same cable for output and input)
3) 240v output to the bandsaw original on/off switch
4) (unused at the moment) this will be the wire to the band saw lamp when I will mount it!!!
everything is really simple and works well, plus I have done this project in about 30 minutes.
the SAFE box can be placed on the floor during the sawing operations (control by foot), or can be hold in one hand.
Both ways the Safe switch is useful to "STOP" the band saw if somethings goes wrong.
I already have many faults such as a broke blade or a loose piece and I always had to run close to the bad saw to push the OFF button the is placed in a very bad position.
Now I am SAFE!
safe first, always!!
